BCCI announced that the Vivo IPL 2021 is going to be starting from April 9 to 2021. Before that Vivo IPL 2021 Auction was held on 18th February 2021 in Chennai. A total of 298 players have been shortlisted by the eight franchises. Punjab Kings team is with the Highest budget of INR 53 crores in their pocket as they have released 7 players ahead of the 2021 auction. SRH and KKR had the lowest budgets among the teams.
While the franchises tried their best to make the teams well balanced, some of them acquired players for a high budget, breaking some of the previous records. While Chris Morris fetched the highest price in IPL 2021, players like Kylie Jamieson and Glenn Maxwell followed.
Here are the top 5 expensive players for IPL 2021.
Chris Morris – He is a South African all-rounder who is the most expensive player signing in IPL History. In the 2020 IPL, he was sold to the RCB for a whopping INR 10 cr. But this year he was acquired by Rajasthan Royals (RR) for 16.25 cr. He played 70 matches since 2013 and scored 551 runs at a strike rate of 157.88. As a bowler, he picked up 80 wickets at an economy of 7.81. Let’s see how his gameplay helps RR to win the IPL 2021 Title.
Kyle Jamieson – He is the second most expensive player who is acquired by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) for 15 cr in IPL 2021 auction. He is a New Zealand all-rounder who played 6 tests, 2 ODI s, 4 T20Is. He scored 190 runs and scalped 54 wickets at an economy of 7.98. Must watch how he is going to play in his first IPL.
Glenn Maxwell – Maxwell is an Australian All-rounder who scored 1505 runs for 82 matches. A destructive batsman, who always generated tremendous interest at the IPL auction. In 2020 he played for Punjab kings but this year he was acquired for 14.25 crores by RCB. Hope his brilliant fielding & batting help RCB to win the title.
Jhye Richardson – He is an Australian fast bowler who is sold to Punjab Kings for 14 crores In IPL 2021. He was the leading wicket-taker with 29 scalps from 17 games at an economy rate of 7.69. Let’s see how this young player contributes to his team.
Krishnappa Gowtham – He is an Indian all-rounder who recently called as a reserve bowler for the Indian test team from the home series against England. In IPL auction history he became the highest-earning uncapped player after CSK acquired his service for a whopping 9.25 cr. He scored 186 runs in 24 matches and picked up 13 wickets.
